I've got an 83 with a powerslot.1-1.52 ratio. Jumped in to go for a ride before dusk and when leaving the dock it started a clicking sound when put in either forward or reverse. Fluids are good. After having the gf drive while I had the doghouse up to listen its still clicking. Also noticed trans fluid on both sides of the trans but didn't have time to start tearing into it as the sun settled and got called into work. Any ideas? I've never heard it make this sound before. I've searched the threads and couldn't find one with a similar issue so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Check this out
I had issues with my '90 prostar pwr slot last season-first check your linkage make sure your cable is engaging the arm fully. The clicking is most likely your pump which is located in the front of the trans. The fluid could be from the seal in front of the pump-easy fix if handy-just labor intensive.Trans must come out.How many hrs are on the boat? Mine had just over a thousand.Good luck
