1999 x star transmission noise

have a 99 x star v-drive with a hurth transmission and I have been told the trans noise at idle is a planetary gear at the top of the transmission is there any way to reduce the noise or is there another trans that will fit without this noise .... thanks for any input

You shouldn't hear much of anything from the transmission at idle. If the noise is bad enough that you're thinking of changing transmissions, then there's something wrong.

There were complaints of "rattling" at idle from some Hurth V-drives; if that's what you're hearing you may want to review the Hurth service bulletin that BigMac kindly posted here. A quick switch to 15w-40 may be all you need.
