2012 X2

Some pics of the new X2 were posted on wakeword. It has a completely redesigned top deck. Personally I'm not a fan. I find it kind of tacky and over blinged. Maybe I'm just biased because I have an 06. All the pics are here:

I really don't like the steering wheel or the tower and switching to coaxial speakers is just pure cost cutting.

I think the boat itself looks pretty good. I just don't like that tower--looks cheap. It's minor, but I do like the billet glove-box too.

I don't like the back deck. The girls like to layout back there and that doesnt look very convenient for bronzin!

i cannot stand the looks of that tower! it is a huge step back in my opinion. i will be keeping my 07 x2 for sometime it appears.

I like the boat and the new dash it looks good but I agree the only option for the tower is going to be the power tower this manual version looks like it came from the 80's

I agree. I'm not a tower guy, but the other towers are much more pleasing to the eye. I would think you could still get the old style tower aftermarket and put it on a new boat.

The other improvments look good though and as I feared all this electronic bs is here to stay. I'll keep my toggle switches and analog guages.

It certainly has pros and cons... like others have said, that tower is old school, and not in a good way. The jury is still out on the touch screen, seems to me that it will be a major PITA in direct sun. Interior (vinyl etc) looks great to me, and there have been some minor interior improvements that will increase ease of use within the boat (cupholder on dash, extra storage compartment on the dash and the glove box).


That being said, I'll be keeping my '08 until they release something that totally impresses me.

I personally like the walk through. There is usually a pad that will drop in the walkway so the entire back sun deck will be available for laying out-plus there are a couple of cup holders back there now. Looks like Clarion has a new wired transom remote. Not entirely sold on the new two point tower, but there are other four point options out there aftermarket-I think the Portland, OR dealer was putting Samson towers on some of their boats with the Exile HLCDs last year.
