2011 X25, Weird Engine behavior

Only 14 hours on the boat and its happened twice. Today after performing some surf sets we loading everything up and started to head back to dock and it happended again. The engine will only go up to 3000rpm and not an RPM higher. Cruise is off, returned the throttle to neutral and back into gear to accellerate more aggressively. Once the RPM hits 3000, you can hear the engine making a deep put put put put sound aprox 240BPM (4 puts per second). The funny thing is, is the engine will not go above 3000. Almost as if the engine is govering itself. Temp is 160, Press is between 40-60. No engine warnings. Now, if I restart the engine, it goes away.

Any idea what this could be??? Cavitation??

What if you turn on PP, does it happen?

Sure sounds to me like the PP is not disengaging. Mine, VDIG does this sometimes. From day one even if you hit the PP button to shut it off, you have to bring the throttle back to neutral most times for it to let go. Sometimes it will not disengage at all and have to re-start the boat. I would first try to set a higher speed, like 25 or so and see if you can get above the 3000RPM mark, if it does then you def have a PP issue not releasing.

2011... only 14 hours on the boat... MasterCraft should be able to tell you exactly what is going on... and fix whatever it is.

Nothing to do with the PP. The first time this happened it was when the engine was off for about an hour, started it up and idled my way away from the shallows. Once I was clear, I advance the throttle to accellerate. The motor seemed sluggish and once it hit 3000RPM, I could hear a real deep "put put" sound comming from the engine. Almost seemed like the engine was misfireing

Yea, I'd have it in their driveway ASAP. I've never owned a new boat so never had that option. You, I assume, paid good money for that option by buying a new boat. That should make you feel good.
