Replacing steering helm/cable in 96 PS 190

I wanted to see if anyone has an experience replacing the helm and steerign cable in this boat? How difficult job was it? Seems pretty straightforward, are there any tricks? I imagine taking the old cable out is easy, but putting the new one in seems time consuming.

One of the easiest repairs. Its almost easier to take the helm out while changing the cable anyway.

Try a search of this site for many recent discussions and tips on this topic. You can also check the Teleflex web site for tips, diagrams etc. Concerning installing the new cable: tie a rope to the end of the old cable before removal, and use that rope to pull the new one back through. Good luck. Bill Z
