Beginner Wakeboard package?
My wife and I are slalom skiers and aren't looking to turn ourselves into wakeboarders. But, we would like to find a wakeboard package (board and boots) that we both could use for some casual boarding after we wear ourselves out in the slalom course. It would also be a plus if we can offer this to the occasional guest who comes out on the boat and can't get up on a slalom ski.
What should I look at? A cheap package at Walmart? Is there such a thing as an adjustable wakeboard binding, like the adjustable bindings they have on cheap combo skis? Or will we have to compromise and get one that is tight on me and loose on her? I guess I'm really looking for "one size fits all" wakeboard... If it matters, I'm 5'11" 185 lbs, wife is 5'10" 150 lbs (all muscle!). All suggestions appreciated.

Check out the combo deals on Overtons or Bart's, they have good deals and will offer free shipping. I doubt the stuff at your local sporting goods store would last very long, but if they carry CWB go for it.

Checkout the Obrien System Board and bindings. I have a 135 board and it works great! I am 180 lbs and have had kids down to 110 lbs using it. You can get it from Barts.

Look for closeout board/binding combos at your local board shop
OR these sites www.wakeside.com www.buywake.com www.grizzly-sports.com www.the-house.com www.wileyski.com CWB makes the hinge-tech bindings. They open way up to get into, then pull up on the cable lever to tighten. They may work for both of you if her feet are not too much smaller than yours. Otherwise you may need 2 different bindings at least. For your weights, go for a board size between 138-141. Last edited by Jerseydave; 07-29-2011 at 08:41 PM. |
