Lake Shasta is FULL AGAIN!
Just got back from Lake Shasta and it is up to the rim.
The water is still cool and be sure to watch for debris but what a wonderful site! |

Yup. I love that lake and the location of it. I used to live in eastern WA and our parents live in CA, so I'd drive by that lake 6-8 times per year, noting the water level each time. Glad to hear it's full. It usually was real low when I was going past it (between 2002 and 2006).

Great news, it's a beautiful lake and shoreline, it's just at the right elevation to have the mountain effect but the lake still remains relatively warm. Imagine the houseboat rental folks are stoked. I've rented houseboats there several times.

Mike- what part of the lake is that?
I check the site www.shastalake.com almost every day, has water levels and all kinds of cool info.

We just got back from there two weeks ago too. It was very full and we go every year. This year was the worst in terms of weather we've ever had. Out houseboat got blown off the shore at 3am in a huge wind/driving rain storm and we couldn't see the shore. With the water so high there aren't many beach type locations that are very big so luckily where we were there was a long shoreline that we just drove right up onto again. But we had to watch the ropes for another 3 hours till it was light out and we could move to a protected location. And then it rained for the entire day.
With that said, we go every year and this was our 6th year. Shasta has been amazing to us generally and it's a great trip if you get a big group together and can organize it right. I'd recommend Antlers Resort to anyone looking to rent a bigger houseboat. They'll take care of ya. Pic is from last year, lower water levels then. And no I don't tow the 80 down there from Washington, what a hellish drive that would be.
