Interesting point on the both sides of the drug legalization debate. Check out the PBS "Prohibition" documentary...it will shed light on both sides of the issue. Some of the same arguments we have today were being heralded way back then as well. It's a tough issue, and we are spending a ton of tax dollars on it. Unfortunately, the stakeholders each have big guns and too many innocents get caught in financial and physical crossfire.....

Legalizing drugs won't make their use rampant because employers are not going to hire those who use drugs...just like now. Drug users are going to steal to get their drugs whether they are legal or not.....just like now. People who use drugs will continue to use drugs whether or not they are legal or not.....just like now. People who don't use drugs won't start to use drugs if they were legal.....just like now. They can legalize the stuff all they want and I'm not going to partake in any of it....just like now. If anything use their sale to generate money to fight the problems of drug use.....just like the problems we are facing now using our tax money to do it.

Every year we have Drug Free Work Place Training at our company. And every year I am truly amazed at what drug users do their bodies as a result of drug use. It is a sickness that is sad, no doubt, but to see what people will do to get high.....making them legal or not, they are going to use and do what they need to continue to use.

To get back to the point of this thread, which is the promotion of THE Dr. Ron Paul, the government can't protect us from ourselves, period. This is one of Ron Paul's ideals based on liberty. If you think it is the governments job to protect you from yourself, they you don't understand what liberty is all about and need to do a little more research.

Nice showing in Iowa by the way, 4 points behind the 'winners'.

Prohibition never works. In any form. Just ups the price of merchandise and creates the need to acquire the funds to purchase the merchandise. All the drug laws have done is fill up prisons and cost me tax dollars to house and feed non violent offenders. Just a reallocation of limited tax dollars to fight a problem that isn't the problem it is made out to be.

So, how about we use the confiscated drugs for the convicted users/dealers and let them use as much as they want while they're incarcerated (yes, I know that not all dealers are users)? They may get sick of it and stop on their own because, after all, we want what we can't or shouldn't have and once easy access is permitted, the desire often decreases. Some will die from overdose but it probably would have happened anyway, right? The drug addled inmates would then be unable to do much of anything because their body and mind will be toast. Red light districts turn to shyte in a heartbeat, so that's not an option.

Is it time to look at the reasons people do drugs?

This is a good piece of video as it shows the difference between Ron Paul and the other candidates.....if you hadn't gotten it already. The truly amazing thing to me is, when Ron Paul speaks he actually says something of substance instead of speaking in broad strokes like the rest of them.

Well, a lot of American's don't want their children exposed to drugs and if more dealers/users are in jail then that might have an affect on it.

Promoting only the good parts of a someone's standings leaves people uninformed on issues that might mean enough not to vote for someone. This includes Mr Paul too.

The good Dr. is not perfect. I have a problem with his environmental stance, but really, other than me, who cares about the environment? And to put things into perspective, right now budget issues, creating sound money, the economy, and foreign policy are the things that need immediate attention....and in my estimation THE Dr. Ron Paul is the only one with real solutions for these problems. The other guys represent the status quo, and that is NOT what we need right now.
