What ski replaced the CDX??
I was looking at the HO website and was wondering what ski replaced the CDX?? I know that wileys have a bunch of CDX's that they said HO made a special late run for them. I just wanted to know what model replaced the CDX, and why did they discontinue it in the first place if its so popular??

so the CDX used to be their flagship ski then?? or their top of the line competition ski?
OK, well then, maybe thats too much ski for me.... I thought it was more of an intermediate level ski. Please correct me if I am wrong on my assumptions. I am researching everything I can to make the next ski I purchase the RIGHT ski for me.

The CDX was one step down from the top. The phantom was the top ski and very fast. The CDX is a competition ski, but it is also very forgiving and easy to ski on. It is a ski that can take you to the next level. I highly recommend the CDX to anyone, from intermediate thru advanced.
If you want a ski that is just easy to ski on, then you may want something in HO's Freeride series, but if you are looking for something that can help you advance, then the CDX-1 is a great choice. Last edited by jamisonsbrodie; 07-22-2005 at 10:27 AM.

Anyone know how much changed between 2004 and 2005? Did the mold and materials change, or just the graphics and name?

The system 8 and Monza are brand new, everything changed. However the verdict isn't out yet regarding improvements. From what I have seen, ridden and heard, the CDX-1 and Phantom truth are both better skis than the the S8 and Monza. Also there have been @ 6 different versions of the Monza just this year, apparently they keep trying to get it right. As far as the other series, I am not sure what the differences are. I almost bought a Monza to replace my phantom, but after skiing on it I changed my mind. I just couldn't get it dialed in.

FWIW, I put my 2002 HO Phantom on the shelf this season in favor of a HO System 8. It's been a great ski, have gained almost a full pass this season with only 2 trips to the course. Rest of my skiing has been open water, was able to run 5' @ 32' off, 34mph last time out. I'm a huge fan of the System 8...it turns great, accelerates great yet isn't as sensisitive to body position compared to my Phantom.
Glad the folks at Wiley's directed me towards the System 8 over the Monza...YMMV.
