Too tight or too loose will have the same effect. The same thing can happen if you don't use a star pattern when initially seating the wheel. If the wheel is not square to the wheel flange, it will soon work itself loose and make an exit. This happened to my F150 when I let my brother put a rear wheel on following a brake job.

We came to an understanding that he wouldn't put any wheels on my truck for me anymore. And I get to bring it up from time to time.

I also sent him pictures of the carnage when it happed, and as the truck went up on the flatbed.

had the same thing happen to me going over a bridge in cincinnati at 65 mph. broke 3 of the studs off, 2 bent ones left. The tire left the trailer, literally bounced over the car behind us, bounced once more then over the side of the bridge and 75 feet down. tore the fender to shreds.

I had just replaced my old rusty chrome rims with shiny new alloy rims. apparently that one had loosened up and I didn't notice. It was a mess.

Luckily it was on the way home from vacation, not on the way there. FYI - MC trailers don't work very well on the typical flatbed tow truck. pretty sketchy operation.

I just had the same thing happen yesterday, very scary! Big mess
Tire came off, trailer dropped down onto rotor and dragged till I could stop. Tire went into oncoming lane and a pickup hit it and launched into a ravine, searched for 2 hours couldn't find it.
Does anyone know the part number or where to get a new rotor also need a new single axle fender for a 2003 PS 197 trailer? The wheel I think I can buy online from a wheel warehouse.
Any help would be appreciated, Thx.

You can get everything you need at this site. I did a total axle replacement including axle, hubs, shackles, springs, brakes, and brake actuator.
