Prop for more top speed? PS 190 1995.
Hi,
I have a ProStar 190 1995, 275 hp engine, with 1:1 transmission, 4-blade prop 13 x 13. Top speed being now 38 mph (or knots), i.e. 70 km/h. Any suggestion for a prop to change to gain more top speed e.g. for barefooting, with less revs and less fuel consumption? I researched this a few year ago, and it seemed that only possibility was to gain max 3 mph. If more top speed, then acceleration would suffer. Any experience or comments, prop recommendations? ![]()

38 doesn't seem right at all. I would think with correct factory prop you should get at least 42 mph out of it.
Eric from OJ is on this site. If he doesn't find this thead you can send him a private message EJ OJPROP.

What is the RPM at 38 MPH? Has the prop been repaired? What is the elevation you run the boat?

38 is slow. I bet your props been repaired and not quite right. Mine runs 44 mph with the 13x11.5 3 blade on XMP

Also, after you find out your rpm's... call Eric from OJ and talk to him about your needs... He is the BEST to work with and will get you a prop that you will be happy with.

38 knots or 70 km/h is 43.5 mph. He is getting the same out of that prop as everybody else.
That is if his speedo is in knots or km/h. Last edited by Table Rocker; 05-25-2011 at 04:22 PM. Reason: added last line |

If you are getting 43.5 mph that is going to be about it with that boat.
