Cooling system conversions

I live in Mobile, Al and the freshwater here is brackish. I have a 1995 Prostar with the LT1, which I am currantly rebuilding. I have noticed a lot of corrosion on the aluminum engine parts, I even had to replace the heads. I was considering setting up a heat exchanger system, but really can't find any good info here on the internet. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

I would call both your dealer and skidim... http://www.skidim.com

This image is from skidim's catalogue...it's for a ford, but they have other parts.

They should have the parts that you need

I had one on my '96 LT-1.

If you are rebuilding a motor, installing a CC system will be EASY! Orca is the big manufacturer and their systems are usually around $1,000....

I did quite a bit of research recently on a closed cooling system for my 96 prostar 190. Orca is definately the bomb but it's also up to $1700 for the GM motor set up. Ouch!

Hey Sodar, Thanks. For a diehard Prostar guy that is engine porn in it's purest form!!

Man guys, thanks for the help. I emailed Orca and the LT1 kit is $1310.OO, not too bad. Found one on ebasicpower.com made by Econo-Kool thats about half the price for chevys. When you get to the ordering menu, it says not for EFI engines, I'm still trying to get that one worked out. I think the filler neck might interfere with the ait filter on the front of the injection. I'll find out and post it for everyones knowledge. I bought the boat last year from a shady dealership in on the Georgia-Florida line, and as soon as I got the boat home I found several problems they tried to hide. Anyway, its engine got bored .030 over, new bearings, new heads, and cooling systems. I was thinking the freshwater cooling would prevent the corrosion. this is the first inboard since I moved to Mobile, I was wondering if flushing the engine everytime I went out would be a more cost effective alternative.
