76 stars and stripes starter trouble

Hello,
In desperate need of help. Just bought a 76 stars and stripes. Starter was off when bought. New starter is on, but need help on the other wires. I know where the main lug wires go from the battery, but I do not know where the others go.
Small gauge purple, small gauge yellow, and a small black. The solenoid has an "S" post and "R" post. Also, the resistor has burnt out. Any ideas on how to replace or upgrade, or where I can find one?
Thanks

Your going to want to get to know DIM anyway (a good place for inboard parts). Just give them a call and tell them your story and what boat you have. http://www.skidim.com/

Iím more of a remove and replace guy but Iím sure someone will jump in and help put the wires in the right spot..

Welcome aboard and Lets see some photos of that SS

I agree. I just put a new starter on an 85 model. Skidim supplied me with a new one with the discount and shipping for under $200. The current starter you have (if it's the original) has been discontinued and you'll get a smaller but more energetic starter in its place. The wiring is a bit different but it is not complicated. Just know the rotation direction of your engine. If you aren't sure, copy the engine number from the tag and Skidim will know just what you need from that number. Good directions come with the starter and anyone at Skidim will additionally assist with just a phone call. Great peeps to deal with.

If you insist on rewiring your current starter I may can look at an older MC and see how it is wired with the older starter. You still need to replace the resistor, unless of course you add 1 electronic ignition kit to your shopping basket at Skidim. .... Well worth the investment.

Be sure and use the discount code too. It's on the front page of their site.

HowZ about posting a few pics of yEr machine here too, please??
