X35 vs. X55

We are currently running an 04 X Star and looking to get something a little larger as our family is expanding. The Star has been an excellent boat for us but its getting a bit cramped when everyone joins us. I am looking for thoughts on the 35 vs. the 55. We love wakeboarding, not joining the tour anytime soon, but would love to get more into wakesurfing. Being that I am in MN its 20 and snowy so test driving one isnt going to happen til spring but I would like to hear thoughts on each of these boats, pros and cons.

Thanks -

I know that you did not mention it, and I hate when people go away from something the original poster did not recommend, but why not a 45? It has a great wakeboarding and surf wake, and will hold 18 people with no trouble.

The 35 will for sure hold more than the star, but with the fridge or sink, I think the space is less user friendly.

Are you talking about ordering new? If I bought a used 35, I would seriously consider cutting out the fridge/sink option and placing extra seating there.

The other negative on the 35 is the flip observers seat. You lose seating capacity with that too.

Thoughts on wake size, quality? Anyone own either that has valuable input? Are wake tabs needed for a quality surf wake?

Thanks -

Sorry... the surf wake on the 55 is far superior to that of the 35. The 45's surf wake is also far better than the 35. You will not NEED tabs for either.

I test drove a 35 and a 45 before my purchase. When the factory decided not to build a 45 to my specifications, then I looked at the 55. Which is a super nice boat, however, I found the 45 was the most practical of the 3. No wasted space with folded seat backs, fridges, toilets, etc. Search this forum for wake comparisions (boarding and surfing). IMO the 45's wake (when weighted properly) is second only to the Xstar.
