I am a new owner of a 2006 Mastercraft X9 with the MCX. The boat is practically new and had only 72 hours on it when I bought it last month and we are loving it. Since I bought the boat, I have been all over the web learning about MC and all over TT learning about MC boats. Great Forum!
One thing that I am seeing is that there aren't very many X9s out there and even fewer with the graphics mine has. I have only seen about a half a dozen others on the web and this forum and only 2 or 3 with the same graphics. Are they just a PS209 with a tower and different graphics? Are these boats that rare? Did MC jsut not make very many of them? It looks like they were only made for a few years as I have only seen models between 2001 and my 2006. Surely someone here can shed some light on this. Thanks. First posted this in the X Thread, but then thought it might be better off as it's own. |

Nice boat! I'm not sure how many had that graphic, prob not many.
On the river near me a guy has a red/white one same as yours but with the typical X9 oval graphic. What he DOES have that's unique is a 502 big block from the factory. Man, that boat must scream!

I have seen a few X-9s around DFW. But I think the reason you don't see many is cause after the cost of an X-9 is added up new you can get into an X-1 new for close to the same money. With most people being into wakeboarding it makes the X-1 more appealing.
Just my 2 cents. Where are you at in DFW? Quote:

Great looking X9!
We've had our X9 for a year, and I've also noticed the same thing, there just doesn't seem to be that many X9's around. Ive only seen the graphics your boat has on '06 model boats, which was the last year for X9 production. For us, the X9 is perfect, spread out seating for plenty of folks, good enough slalom performance and plenty of wake for this newbie's backflips. I would consider yourself lucky that you don't have any of the other years's graphics, IMO you have the best factory X9 graphics. Enjoy the boat!

Great looking X9's guys. There are two of these on our small lake, one with the exact same paint scheme as the OP, the other one is black with white graphics.

The boat was only produced for about six years. It was meant as a crossover boat and doesn't tend to be really great for either skiing or wakeboarding (I can speak to the skiing, but am going on second hand info for the wakeboarding). That's not to say it isn't a good boat that's fun to do either of those things behind. I have put in several sets behind a 209 this year and have had a ball. But for many, I'm guessing they went with an X7 if they were skiers looking for an open bow with a tower or the X1--2 or X10--80 if they were wakeboarders.

It does everything a little better than average, with the pull and quality of a MC.

As far as I can tell a X9 is a PS209 with the tower, ballast system and special graphics. On ours if you look at the capacity sticker it lists the boat as a PS209, it's probably the same on yours.

They should be both the same.....just different options on the X9 for the wakeboarding crowd. Same hull and engine.
