Question New Droid 2

Anyone have the new Droid 2 phone?

I am upgrading my cell phone and would appreciate any feedback on this one. I do not want to get a Blackberry as it seems the BBs are gonna be fossils in the next couple months.

Thanks!

Rockman

I havn't seen one first had yet, but I like the idea of a slide out (non touchpad) keyboard.

I also like the hotspot feature, but it costs an additional $20 per month.

$10 messaging
$30 internet
$20 hotspot
$60 extra per month, maybe I will stay with a simple feature phone.......

I got the Droid X about 2 weeks ago - upgrade from BB pearl. So far I am amazed at what it can do - it is like having a computer, cell phone, camera and video camera all in your pocket. I don't even think I have figured out 5% of what it can do.

Negatives from my point of view are that it is pretty big, and it is not as user friendly as the i-phone. What I mean is that it's not as smooth to load music onto, and downloaded tv shows and movies I havent figured out how to play. It may just be user error, but my wifes i-touch is so easy to use, and I am having a harder time learning the Droid.

I have the original droid and think it is pretty good. A friend who works in Verizon cust. service told me the other day the the incredible and the X have not been as reliable (apps crashing, phones needing restarts).

I did read a review on the D2 that in has an improved keyboard. (the original droid has flat keys that are are to distinguish from one another)

The only significant difference between the original droid and droid 2 is the keyboard. I've not used the droid 2 keyboard, but it looks a lot nicer than the orginal droid. The droid 2 has a little bigger cpu, but you won't really notice the difference.

I just ordered a Droid X last week. It should be here sometime this week. I also looked at the Droid 2 when making my decision. I like the size of the Droid 2 and the slide out keyboard. The reason I went with the Droid X though was the screen size is bigger. One thing to note about the Droid 2 is that is has the new 2.2 version software already installed on it. The Droid X comes with the 2.1 version and will not be upgraded for a few months to the 2.2 version. I don't know what the differences are between the software version though.

I read thru a bunch of reviews on the verizon site and it seems the battery life on the Droid 2 is aweful.

Most of the people who commented said this was one drawback from going with the Droid Incredible...

Glad I had not placed the order yet. I will do some more research tonight!
