After the site update about a month ago, I used the "contact MC" link to see if skins were available for my '85 S& S. They replied that I should contact my dealer (Rays Marina, NH) for pricing and availability. So I did that and they had a question I couldn't answer and a comment that I didn't like to here.

the question was what type of boat do I have? the sales man said he was fairly new and the screen at his counter only read prostar and Maristar under 1985, and asked me which I had. I thought it was just a S & S. how do I tell on a boat that old if I don't have the original title? also the link to mastercraft says skins are available for an 85 deluxe skier. again how would I know?

The comment he made was that he'd contact MC and leave the question on their voice mail because he typically doesn't get a live person on the other end when he calls. he also said they don't always reply right away.
after several calls and another (unanswered) email to mastercraft, I still don't have a reply. I've read several posts here about boaters w/ new apolstery. Do you have any tips on this task, or is it easier to wait 'til fall and just have someone local make it?

I use to have an '86 and was able to order skins no problem. My dealer told me that MC keeps all of the fabric in stock and then custom builds the cushon for you.

I believe that until '87 the boat was called a "19' skier". If you look on the coast guard placard that tells the max ocupancy, in the bottom right corner it should have the model of the boat.

The other thing you should be able to do is write down the hull number. The hull number will tell MC the year, make and the interior colors. That way there is no question.

You have a 1985 MC Skier 19 (or 19 Skier ?? ). The Pro Star didn't exist at that time. It may be a deluxe edition or not but all that amounts to an interior package (and possibly metal flake fancies). Basically if your boat came with a rear seat, padded engine cover, etc, you have the deluxe package. May I suggest calling Donnie Bennet in Maryville, TN (his number is here on the board) and have him hook you up with his upholstery person if indeed you continue to have problems with MC.

New rules here on the board do not allow me to say !@#$%^&*(*&^%$#$%^& so I won't, but from casual observation, you don't need to be holding yEr breath any longer waiting on a simple and courteous response. Not a healthy thAng to do....
