How fast were you going? What board were you using...looks a lot faster than 10.5 mph.

DJ,
What year Star (asking due to hull shape)?
What size are your fat sacs?
Are you surfing port or SB side?
How many feet estimated are you from the swim platform are you when you're in the sweet spot?

Are people finding port side and starboard side are different speeds due to rotation of prop? I was told SB side is 1-1.5 MPH slower. I'm not seeing the difference, but thought I would ask.

I was told from a fellow X-Star owner who is a fairly accomplished surfer to only fill the rear tank plus a 750lb sac in that side's rear locker. I've tried this and have tried adding an additional 400 lb in sacs in the same location. It's a good size wake, but not good enough to drop the rope. I'm sure that it's not all boat and I am part of the problem, but i've surfed the same year X2 with the same setup with much better results. I know I'm going to get flooded with comments saying the X2 is better surf boat and I shouldn't have bought a Star to surf....... I don't want to get into that conversation.

It seems counter intuitive to fill up the rear tank on the opposite side of surfing, but with DJ making it work, I'm going to give it a shot. Other X-Star owners, please chime in on what has worked and what has not.

It is an 05 with pro ballast system. I fill up all the factory ballasts and the port (port=passenger side) fat sac. I have noticed that you need weight in the front of the boat. If i don't have people up front i fill up the front 2 fat sacs. For some reason it makes a big difference. Once i get the wave like i want it i can move back on the wake (always port side). It is a much larger sweet spot. The board i use is kind of small for me, but works. A larger board would be a lot easier. Hope this helps.
