Tranny fluid change in 87 prostar

Just was going to change the tranny fluid in our 87 prostar, and when I went to buy transmission fluid, no one carries dexron 2, which is what the manual said. So, my question is what do you guys use in the trannys now? Also, do you use synthetic? By the way, the transmission was just put in new last year, and I'm not sure if it matters. Thanks.

They don't make Dexron II anymore.....it has been replaced with Dexron III.

I've seen DexIV as well. Whatever the current formulation of Dexron/Mercon will be fine.

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.
