Hydraulic Lift Install - Finally

Well after months of planning I finally installed a Summit 6120 hydraulic lift this weekend. I bought it from a place in Michigan (boathoistdirect.com) who shipped it to a place in Buffalo (free shipping) and I drove down from Toronto to pick it up and drive it back across the boarder.

Although they say the main lift carriage is only 300 - 400 pounds I have some waterfront access issues so I decided to launch it from my box trailer and float it down the lake to my property. I bought some dock barrels and winch strapped them to the frame and it worked like a charm.

The installation was really straight forward but I was installing directly on solid granite Canadian shield so I didn't have options to lower the lift to achieve a reasonable height. Apparently in mud bottom lakes you can use a power washer to dig a cavity to lower the height. Anyway it's in and the boat has more air than I get when wakeboarding. I'm wondering if this will cause any issues (i.e. high winds). But it beats the heck out of putting it on the trailer every weekend (this part was driving the wife crazy). So I told her that I bought the lift for her!!!!

Nice man! Is it just me, or does it look like the only access, is in the final picture between what appears to be two docks? If so, looks like one helluva tight squeeze!

Medicmoose, I'm on Lake Muskoka just outside of Gravenhurst. Give me a call if you are in the area and please drop by for a ski.

Teal 98, yeah it is a tight squeeze. I really wanted to get the canopy option for the lift but the way the boat comes in it has to come in on an angle and swing over one of the four corners of the lift. Therefore no four post canopy for me. I've attached another picture that provides better perspective. The beam on the boat is about 6 inches less than the opening. The old Chris Craft I had before this would barely fit through and if they lowered the water level in the fall it wouldn't fit through well at all.

Your lift looks great! I have a Hewitt lift and it looks 100% the same, I wonder if these are all made by the same company?
