Silentmaster muffler ---95 Pro Star 205 Help??

I just found out my exhaust pipe inner baffel has broken inside my still master muffler. I called MC dealer in Houston and they quoted $283. Does anybody know of any aftermarket mufflers that I could use that dont cost an arm and a leg????

what you are refering to is actually Silent Master with a 3 1/2" od inlet & a 3 3/8" od outlet, about 30" long with a 45 degree angle on the inlet end to the manifold. I believe it can be opened up & repaired (it appears to just be fiberglass)? what I'm curious about is the baffle that is loose in the outlet end (needs to be reattached?, is it to keep lake water from entering the muffler?

friend on mine cut his open and repaired the baffle. In his case the stuffing started coming out of it I think due to poor winterizing. Anyway, he simply reinstalled the baffled, fibreglassed it back together and it has been working fine for about 4 - 5 years now.

I dont believe mine had any stuffing inside? Does anybody know what goes inside the muffler other than the baffle?
