How to reset check engine alarm on '07 X-2

I have an X-2 and I have the check engine light coming on. I had a fuel pump go bad. The fuse and relays were fine. The old pump was getting 12 volts to the fuel pum. I replaced the fuel pump and everything is working great. However, the check engine light and alarm continue to go off when the engine starts up.

Does anyone know how to reset the check engine alarm on a standard engine? I keep my boat in a boat house on Lake Gaston in Virginia. It is a major hassle to haul the boat over an hour to the dealer.

I keep turning the alarm off by holding down the "display selector" switch. However, I'd really like to reset the code. I'm assume that the sudden death of my old fuel pump (260 hrs) triggered the code to put the alarm on.

Please, someone help!

-Pete

What about an 2008. My check engine has come on the past few outings. have had more than 3 complete warmup and cool downs. Tried the down up down up, and it says its reset but then when i turn off and on again its back. Very annoying

hey lads, thought Id resurface this post. Had this issue on my 07 X2 today, readout "check engine" with an alarm. I worked out to depress the display switch and it stopped the alarm and readout. I also made sure that oil/water temp and voltage were all functioning as should, this is not an issue.
Now, this has occured since my engine temp run hot a couple of weeks back and the temp alarm sounded, found the hose inlet tap was open allowing the engine water flow not to function to full capacity. All sorted, the temp is now fine, but this damn alarm.
Previous posts mention 3 warm up /cool down cycles, is this just run it to warm, switch off to cool down, then repeat twice more, I gues this can be achieved at 3 separate outings.
Any clarity on this issue is appreciated...cheers from Aus
btw, my first real outing into this summer season, 80deg F

You can clear all codes by putting the ECM into service mode and moving the throttle from stop to full and then back again.

This is for MEFI 1-4

Put the ECM into service mode by jumping A and B terminals on the DLC
Turn the key on but do NOT start the engine
Move the throttle from closed to wide-open and back to closed
Turn the key off and remove your jumper from the DLC

If you are uncomfortable with this procedure you can buy a codemate from Rinda which is nothing more then a jumper with an LED on so you can get trouble codes from you ECM.

http://www.michiganmotorz.com/codema...der-p-513.html

http://www.rinda.com/marine/marinemenu.htm

If you want to read codes you need an LED light, hook the positive side to the F terminal (it provides 12v from the battery) and hook the negative side to the E terminal.

Reading codes

Key off - connect your LED as noted above.
Jump A and B terminals on the DLC
Turn the ignition switch ON but do not start the engine.
Light will flash code 12 twice, followed by any stored DTC's (each twice), in ascending numerical order
The codes can be read by observing the sequence of flashes and pauses of the light
Turn the ignition switch OFF
Remove your jumper and LED

Get the Codemate like Cantrepeat said. It's cheap and easy to use.
If you try to connect a led to the connector, you have to install a resistor in series with either the anode or cathode of the led. The Codemate keeps you from jumpering the wrong pins and doing serious damage.

thanks so far for replies...
would the alarm sounding have been attributed by the previous temp alarm issue I had?

Hey Cantrepeat, what is the MEFI 1-4?

MEFI = Marine electronic fuel injection.
The numbers are the series of software/hardware. #1 is the oldest.
