Blue Sea Battery Switch

I searched but couldn't find this. It should be simple.
I have an 09 X-15. It has 2 batteries and a blue seas switch.
There are 3 modes, off, on, and combine.

My old boat had, 1, 2, and both.

What is the difference between on and combine and when do I use combine?

Question 2.
When I am charging the batteries, what mode do I use?

Question 3.
Do I charge each batter seperately, or will hooking a charger to one charge both?

Thanks

Combine when your starter battery is dead to allow the house battery to help start the boat.

Probably doesn't matter, likely leave it ON, connect charger to the battery the alternator connects to. Should be able to charge both if they are similar/same batteries. If different types of batteries, I'd charge individually with the switch in the OFF position.
