Lt1 vs MCX Can of worms

I don't mean to open a can of worms, but I would be interested your opinion about which engine is the best. I will explain - I am slightly biased, but I have a 1996 Pro Star 190 with a LT1 and my friend had a 2007 197 with a MCX My boat was faster top end and faster out of the water. I know some of you will ask about the gear box, but just interested in your opinion about the engine.

Huh?
Had a LT-1 in my 190, have a MCX in my X2. 190 was faster............LT-1 must be better!
Seriously, they're very similar engines. LT-1 came in a 319hp, 330 (I think) and a few 350hp motors. MCX is 350hp. If anything, the LT-1 is a little higher tech in some areas than the MCX, MCX in others. Aluminum heads, Northstar ign on the LT-1. Fancy intake and exhaust manifolds on the MCX.
If you both have the same gear boxes and comparable props, I'd expect the 190 LT-1 to be a bit quicker anyway. It's alot smaller boat than a 197.

The MCX looks like it is the vortec motor, except with a better intake manifold than the 96-99 chevy 1500s. The vortec used LT-1 technolgy, especially in the heads design with taller ports. With the same camshaft and engine ECM the only advantage would be the higher compression and reverse cooling of the lt-1.

Your friend's engine has catalytic converters on it.

More than anything, I'd guess that it is the weight and wetted surfaces of the two boats that is most germane to your time trials.

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.
