Ballast Timer Bypass

I know there are a few post on here about how to bypass the timers but I don't know much about wiring in relays and I think there may be more than I want to try to mess with. Does anyone know it anyone makes a setup that is prewired so all I would have to do is take out the timers and plug in prewired relays?

You have 3 options.

1. Increase from the 6 minute to the 20 minute timed relays. This is not difficult to do. Contact Jason at WakeMakers. He is quite helpful.

2. Remove the timed relays altogether (See Skeeler's excellent write up).

3. Place a switch between your battery and the relay's. There is one main power connection from the battery to all three relays (at least on my 08). Therefore, you can place a single toggle switch between the battery connection and the relay to cut power to the relays. This resets the relays. This allows you to fill for 6 minutes, then flip the switch on/off to reset the relays, and you get another 6 minutes, etc.

I have decided that I don't want timers. I have looked at skeeler's write up and the more I look at it the more I think it is something that I can do.

Ballast Pump Timers

Was going to put the add'l ballast system in my X-Star. Has anybody put this in, and what effect did that have on your ballast pump timers. I read somewhere that the stock timers are for 6 mins. That you have to replace them with 20 min. timers so they fill the stock and add'l ballast. My question is, say I install it and don't switch out the timers. Can't I just flip the fill/empty switches again to restart the ballast filling?

JB according to your profile you have an '09, so you have 20 minute timers. You can fill until the pump times out, switch to off, wait a moment then fill again, kind of a pain, or use the re-program mode here. Pretty easy to do and will hold as long as battery power is maintained. See 1 borders post, also search Roonies, who has a step by step to plumb in the bags, I think his was an X2, but really about the same as far as a project for an X Star.

The 20 minute timer relays must be different from the 6 minute timers as far as how they reset.

Once the 6 minute timers 'time out", they will not reset until either you empty the tanks (change in voltage making the relays think the tanks are empty) or you interrupt the power from the battery to the timer relay. If the 6 minute timers time out, flipping the switch off then back on gives you about 10 seconds of pump function before they time out again.

I thought the 20 minute timers also would not reset simply by toggling the on/off switch, but I have no first hand knowledge of the 20 minute timers.
