Heavy heart
For those that are new(er) a while back Team Talk got together and bought a English Bulldog puppy for a pretty sick little boy here is the thread: http://mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=7978
Towards the end of the above thread you'll read where things have taken a bad turn lately...well this morning I received this email...I'm typing this with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. I simply cannot imagine the strength it takes to make it through the day...if you get a chance say a prayer. Hello everybody. I wanted to take some time and get everyone up to speed on what's going on since my last update. I may be telling people the same thing more than once, just bare with me. We went down yesterday for surgery to remove the fluid with a drainage tube. After the surgeon got in with the camera he was shocked what he found. Spencer has multiple tumors on the lining of the right lung and on the cavity of the ribs on the right side. We were devastated to see the picture that the dr brought out to show us. From the picture and the way the doctor described things, Spencer should have been in a lot of pain. Those of us that know our Spencer well....he doesn't complain. He was sent to the PICU last night for observation. He rested very peacefully. This morning he was doing really well, just a little sore. The nurse has been able to keep him comfortable with pain medication. We were moved back to his regular room this morning around 10am. This evening has been a little down hill. Of course, the drs told us that it would get worse before it got better. He has been sleeping pretty much since lunchtime today. Chemo also started this evening. He will be taking a liquid oral chemo called Cytoxan. He had this form of chemo in the beginning of the journey in August 2000, but this time it's not IV form, he is able to take it by mouth. He will take this once a day at home (I will be able to give to him) for 28 days. He will also have to have another chemo called Vinorelbine (a distant cousin of the chemo Vincristine) which he also had for the first time in 2000. However, this one will be given on day 1, day 8 and day 15 through his port. We do have to go to clinic on these days for this to run through. Our hearts have been very heavy since the surgery yesterday evening. We have been told by Dr. Golembe that this is our last option. These (2) chemos are our last "medical" hope. We have not given up on our Lord Jesus Christ!! We know, and Spencer is living proof, that God is in the miracle business. We also have been doing our best at trying to accept that if it is God's Will and Spencer's time, it is Spencer's time. As bad as we want to keep him FOREVER, we do not want him to suffer. HOWEVER, we continue to pray that these chemos will work and he will be healed completely. I mainly wanted to go ahead and send you this email to catch everyone up and ask that if you have a facebook page, that's where you can get updates. If you don't have facebook, I am continuing to update his caringbridge site, which you can go to at: www.caringbridge.org/nc/spencergriffin I, personally, will not be sending an email out everytime, just because it is taking a lot of time for me to update (3) different ways. Most likely, the emails will start coming from a family member or friend that has your email address from me. I do want you all to know that I will continue to check my emails, but please give me time to respond back. I may not get back to you the same day, but I will get back to you. We appreciate you all so very much, MORE than words can express!! Please continue to lift Spencer and our family up in prayer. Greg told Marleigh, our oldest, the news last night, and she didn't take it very well. We haven't told Kendall yet. Please pray for us, our hearts are very heavy. Blessings to your family from ours, Greg, Wendy, Marleigh, Spencer & Kendall ![]()

What a sad story. It sounds like Spencer is surrounded by a very strong family. At least he has that on his side. God bless Spencer and the family.
