Want to add a sub
I've got a x-star and I want to add a sub on the port side of the boat. I have the jl sub matching the stock one. I'm just wondering what to do about an amp? Any suggestions? I was thinking about staying with jl, like a m1700 to run both of the subs?

The JL amplifier would be fine, I like the Alpine PDX's myself. Small foot print and very efficient.
This may also give you some install ideas. http://www.lockituponline.com/08-x-s...lery/index.htm |

What amps do you have and what speakers are they powering?

Those look like really nice amps! What speakers do the stock amps power?

No stock amplifiers let in that boat. Only those two.

I have the JL HD 600, great amp, small, powerful and efficient.
Side note: I believe in '08 they still use the 10" free air, right? Did you consider going with a 12" and having an enclosure built, if that would fit in the stock location? Might be better sound and less overall power consumption/longer beach time. I went that route this year and the difference was incredible, I actually have to de-tune the sub a bit because its too loud for me--just another angle that popped into my head, but I'm not positive it would be more overall sound, just throwing the idea out there. |

Does a 12" sub fit in the same positon behind the drivers seat? Obviously it's not gonna fit in the same hole but is that spot big enough to fit a 12" sub?
