A low pressure is normal. Think about it. Low RPMs, low oil pump output, low pressure.

Realizing this doesn't answer your question numerically, but a low pressure is the norm.

Ours usually bounces around 15 to 25psi at idle. 40 to 50psi at anything above 1200rpm or so.

Cold engine at start up is about 40 till it gets to operating temp, then it drops, but I'm running Valvoline 40 wt. VR1 Racing Oil, that may have some effect, but it's been doing that way for 20+ years.

The reason why I'm asking is that I don't put as much oil in the engine thats stated in the spec, If I put in 4.5 quarts the dipstick shows above the safe area. Maybee the dipstick is too long, but If I put in oil according to the dipstick, about 4 quarts, oil pressure is normal. If i put in 4.5 - 5 quarts oil pressure goes a bit high when engine is cold.
