Yesterday I installed SS exhaust flange on the port side (now they are a matching pair). Perfect fit this time. Flappers are removed for photo.

Today I installed new muffler to flange 3" exhaust pipe.

Also bought and installed all new 1 1/4" and 1" water hoses. Fresh water intake to transmission cooler, cooler to impeller housing, impeller to thermostat housing and thermostat housing to exhaust manifolds on both sides. Used brand new hose clamps all around for clean install and longevity.

I like the Trident hose because it matches the blue valve covers.

The Trident hoses look great.

Am I seeing a kink in the exhaust hose or just an illusion?

That can be corrected by trimming the lower part of the hose that is connected to the riser (at an angle, as such). The nice thing about the soft wall hose is that it cuts very nicely with a sharp box-cutter type knife. Trim a little, try fit, trim a little, try fit... etc... I use dish washing soap to slip it on and off unless you have the riser off.

Pic of the hose angle from an 85. Note the angle is not cut at a 90 deg angle to the length of the hose.

Is there anyway to tell if you have a collapsed hose without removing them?
did you order 3" hose from Skidim about $17 per foot, how any feet did you need?
Also for the cooling trident hoses, I agree I like the blue. Do they sell molded hoses or did they bend enough for your needs? I have a 91 also if you have part numbers please PM me.

There is no sure way to tell without looking. When the hose gets to feel hard or brittle, it is time to replace it. Same goes if it feels too soft.

Skidim is a good source. Don't overlook your local MC Dealer if there is one nearby.
