In-tank fuel pumps - some additional info

I just re-found this thread from about a year ago. It detail sk8salomon's experience with the fuel pump on his 2007 Tournament Team. IIUC, the 2007 TT used a new in-tank fuel pump arrangement, something that was or is part of the whole lineup in 2008.

The thread raises several questions in my mind:
  • do all of the 2008 and later MC's use this dual-pump module?
  • the hose that sk8salomon pictures would be flexible without kinking. Where can we get that?
  • If this dual pump module is the new fuel pump MC is using, can we put that new, dual pump module in our older boats, or are we perpetually stuck with the current, apparently inferior, setup with the toy fuel pump made by Federal Mogul?

If you have one of the original boats with in-tank pump, they used Carter (is that a Federal-Mogul company?).

What about a semi-rigid line with stainless braid and maybe a teflon inner line?

Carter is one of Federal Mogul's brands.

I figured it is but I'm not sure if they were at the time the system was originally set up- it was over 10 years ago.

I have a 2007 and have changed my own filter on the fuel module... it looked the same as all the photos of modules posted on this site. Would a 2 pump module look any different? How would I be able to tell if I have the 2 pump model or the 1 pump? I am thinking I might have just wasted $100 on a back-up fuel pump....

If you've had your pump module out to change the filter, I'm under the impression that you would have clearly seen two pumps there. sk8salomon could perhaps shed some light, since his 2007 TT had one and he's actually been into it and had it apart.

I don't know if MC is now using that in all their boats (TT in 2007, everything else in 2008 and later), but I sure would be curious to know. Also would be curious to know if that arrangement is available for the older boats like ours. I'm guessing not.

Good points. I know that they have used the TT boats as test platforms. Perhaps they did this for the fuel pumps in '07. I wish I would have paid more attention when I pulled my module out to change the fuel filter.

You would have seen 2 pumps and it would be a wider module to accomodate two pumps.

I changed the filter when the new pump went on, when the 4 year old one dried it looked exactly like the new one. I don't see any need to change it ever.
