Locking gas cap
I have a 2005 X7. Some of my tree-hugging neighbors at the lake really dislike ski/wakeboard boats. Does anyone know where I can get a locking gas cap so I don't have to worry about someone pouring anything in my tank when I'm not around.

Not quite a locking gas cap but close. It is what I use, mainly for a deterrent. If they are determined to steal gas or put something in your gas, they are gonna do it no matter what. This just really deters anyone else so they move on to another, easier boat.
Perko Locking Fuel Fill Insert Perko also makes actual locking gas caps, but some will work for your boat, some won't. I have also heard they are not the easiest install. Do a search on here and you will come up with some more answers..... Last edited by Kevin@MWMC; 07-25-2009 at 02:26 AM. |

I have one of these as well. Works great knowing 31 gallons of premium won't be missing. |

Not to be picky, but there was a discussion a while ago which proved that using premium is not beneficial for most of these boats.

The new Ilmor engine has 87 as a minimum and premium listed as preferred in the manual. Is this a shift from other MC engines?

I have never seen a locking gas cap for my Mastercraft. Now I will start looking out of curiosity. I have had problems with stupid thieves stealing my gas out of the boats but my neighbors wouldn't dare long. Put up one of those motion activated stealth cameras. I fixed my gas thief. I added a non catalytic converter compatible octane boost to one of my high hp boats. After they stole the gas the second time and got the good stuff with boost I installed locking caps and a stealth camera. Stealth camera catches them bad---cameras in plain view deter bad acts.
