Drive Line Racket...

I've slowly eliminated a lot of the problems this season, and am down to some heavy rattling coming from the area around the driveline coupling. The coupling is tight. So that leaves the packing or the reduction gear. Any ideas?

ours had a nasty vibration in it, we were at a loss for what it was.......but i uncoupled the drive line and moved it around checking clearance of the coupler and to check bushings. put back together and noise has been gone since??? the dealer couldnt even tell me why or what was wrong and why it went away after uncoupling it.

If that doesn't work, try changing the drive shaft packing. Worked for my brother in law's supra comp.

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.
