Barefoot bar on early S&S

First off I appreciate everyones patience with all my newby questions. I am still looking for the right boat.

I have a BI Boom that I will want to use to help teach my kids to ski and am wondering if anyone uses a barefoot boom on the early stars and stripes boats. I searched through the gallerys and haven't been able see any. I was just wondering if the low freeboard would be a concern?

thanks in advance

Craig

That is what Barefoot booms are designed for. It would be better if we knew what
boom you own. Contoured or straight. Adjustable or non adjustable

The boom height can be adjusted by moving it up and down the pylon. Higher (BOOM HEIGHT) is better

It is straight. I bought it in about 1989. I don't think it is adjustable, but I haven't used it in about 10yrs.

Move boom's collar (attaches to pylon) up or down to reach the boom end's (skier/footer end) desired height.

Boom pad goes on the gunnel. You could also add additional padding (cloth or other) to keep from scratching the contact point.

The lower the boom end is, the more careful you'll need to be approaching the skier/footer. It's generally not a good idea to make sharp turns toward the side the boom is mounted.

Early S&S boats work great with booms. Used this combination with literally hundreds of skiers/footers. Excellent teaching aid or barefoot aid.

I have a 81 S&S and have had a BI boom since they come out with them. Fits fine and is just behind the drivers seat and so the boom is maybe a foot behind the windshield. Don't have a picture with the boom on but it's straight one and it has the cables and adjustable turnbuckles and can be adjusted up and down on the ski pylon to raise and lower the end above the water. We've used it for teachin the kids skiing and barefooting and fits very good on the older MC's. Get a MC and Goodluck!!!
