If you drive to close from sidewalk or curb, that will happen...

Thumbs up

My 2008 came with 18" KMC Badlands rims. I think if you go with a setup similar to this, you shouldn't have any problems. Just keep 'em away from curbs, for sure!!!

Looks great!

What kind of tires does the factory run on those?

I still prefer the wide wheel, fat tire, full wheelwell look and the ability to find a tire when traveling if need be.

savaiusini I really like how the upgraded rims look on your trailer!

Gregg, not sure they will do this for you b/c I think you have the older style wheels like mine, but I think Pat has ordered a MC trailers with the upgraded wheels, you give them your wheels and pay the difference!

There are many more issues affecting sidewall strength besides just height of the sidewall. If a boat is trailer-able on a 2 wheel trailer, the tandem trailer is going to provide greater protection because of the weight being divided up among 4 tires instead of 2, imagine your current boat becoming 50% lighter and how it would trailer/be protected then. With a tandem you have double the suspension protecting the boat. People claiming they would never tow their boat with a low profile, that are currently towing with a single axle, are missing the point. Now if they meant they would never trailer a SINGLE axle with low profile, I agree.

Also any tandem will soften tongue weight issues and the swaying that comes along with them, putting less stress on the tow vehicles suspension, your tongue weight should decrease. Also pitching of the tongue area while going over high speed bumps (bridges, etc) will be reduced. I know I am preaching to the choir here.

The issue of being able to find a replacement tire may be moot. Depending on the load rating of the tire you may be able to trailer with 3 wheels for a considerable distance to get off the highway to safely change a tire with a spare, or make it to a shop.

Now low profile tandem vs traditional tandem, that is a better argument, but even then, with a boat under 4500 lbs, you have a large amount of overlap protection, and I would consider it splitting hairs.

With a tandam you have these safe jacking options also: http://www.hitchesonline.com/jiffyjack/jiffy.htm
Or if tight space manuvering is an issue these: http://www.tl-industries.com/
