Before I start cutting...

My dealer says install my heater behind observer seat, however I must cut to get water lines to and from the heater. Aside from placing unit behind drivers kick plate ( nor enough room ) are there any other suggestions. I'm installing into a 2003 x-9

My heater in my '04 197 is installed behind the driver's kick panel. I'm surprised the x-9 doesn't have enough room there, but I'm not as familiar with your boat. Sorry I can't be of more help.

There are actually mounting reinforcement tabs already glassed into the deck behind the driver's kick panel on the X9. Plus the water hoses, heater itself, and vent hoses are completely concealed out of sight. Also your wiring will be much simplier if the unit is on the driver's side. I would mount it on the driver's side like MC does from the factory.
