Bimini attachment

Someone please tell me that the biminis on the 02 X30s are not riveted to the tower. Mine is coming loose and I can't figure out how to tighten it. If they are riveted, I am submitting this for worst design ever!

Yours must be different than mine, my bimini attaches to the windshield frame with screws like the MariStar version.

This is the mounting attachment that my Bimini uses. Definitely looks riveted to me. Can anyone confirm this? I desperately need to get this fixed. It is so loose that I'm just waiting for it to fall off.

That’s the same hardware I used to install the bimini to my Maristar windshield. I used sheet metal screws and it worked like a charm. Looks like rivets to me, so I’d just drill the rivets out. Depending on the tube thickness, you could either use self-tapping screws to re-attach the hardware or tap the holes and use machine screws with Loctite.

The windshield frame is very thin and I’ve had one screw pull out slightly after I dropped the top while putting it down by myself (which is every weekend). I would think that the tower tube is thick enough to tap.

agree, definitely looks like a rivet. should be able to drill it out easily. i've tapped my tower in plenty of places and haven't had a problem. a sheet metal screw would be my next choice.
