dealer question - can you switch 03 racks to 04?

i'm hearing conflicting answers. is it possible to change the 03 ratchet style racks to the smaller 04 racks?

boat is 03 X-2

i've seen 03 X-2's with the smaller racks, but maybe they were late in the year models or something. i've tried to contact the owners, but have been unsuccessful.

can someone who knows for certain please reply or pm?

If you want to make the conversion you need to have a machine shop do some work to the area where the racks mount. Basically you need to have them cut a rectangle into the area where the closure lever goes through.

To the best of my knowledge the bolt hole used to secure your racks to the tower is in the same location as the screw that holds the newer style racks on.
