Winch

Anyone thought about building a winch for fun to goof around with? My son saw one of these and wants me to build one. We have a 3/4 acre pond in the yard and I can already see fun boxes and rails erected in the pond and my wife hating me.

Looks pretty straight forward and easy from some of the other sites I have viewed.

By buddy built one for the marina he has behind his house. It is pretty cool and they have definitely gotten the use out of it. He has done some really cool stuff with it.

Thats pretty sweet! Have you actually used one? What does the pull feel like? How do you stretch the line out? Swim it?
