Perfect Pass problems

Took the boat out today and I couldn't get it to except the ^ to say Yes it is in neutral so it would turn on.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Is it possible the ^ button is bad? The boat is a 2002 x-star.

I was thinking about upgrading to the GPS speed control, which I think replaced the gauge, but wasn't ready to spend the $ just yet, but it's not going to make for happy boating without it.

Any advice?

I have seen boats where the display buttons did not work. A friends went bad at the end of the season last year. He sent it back to PP and they repaired the display.
