1990 prostar 190?

Hi, nice board! Im looking at a 1990 prostar 190 to buy. Its in real good cond. no cracks or tears, all guages work, 500 hours, has a 3k stereo system, other than that its stock. I will be using it to wakeboard with some buddies. The guy says 10k and sounds pretty firm. Just looking for thoughts on it; i've always owned i/o's and would love an inboard for a change. My other option is a 1990 malibu skier, pretty much the same as the prostar, but the malibu has perfect pass and an auto ballast, needs a new rubrail other than that its in great shape price is 8k.
Thanks.!!!!

If you want a nice boat that rides good go Malibu but if you want a quality boat that rides great and that's gonna last and hold value go MC

I GOT An 89 PRO STAR 190 That Had 600 Hours On It And Paid $9000 For It...best Move I Ever Made

Do You Need The Stereo? Ask Him For A Price Without It. You Can Do That Yourself For Less Than $3000

Make sure you or a qualified marine mechanic performs a compression (leak down) check. If the MC checks out 10K is probably on the high side however if the boat is in excellent condition I have seen 1990 PS 190's fetch 10K. In my opinion the stereo really doesn't add any resale value to a 1990 boat.

Good luck,
Prostar Rich

I do not care too much for the older malibu's back then the only thing I really saw on the water was nothing but master craft's and ski nautique..I say Mastercraft but then again your asking everybody who owns a mastercraft so you know what answer there going to give you but if you plan on wakeboarding with it you might want to get a fat sac if you want a good wake these boat's are made for water skiing!

I paid 9300 this year for my 91 with 190 hrs on it. The only issues on it (that I didnt create myself with a poor draining :0) was a cracked muffler and speedo out. just to give you refrence.

Great advice above.

Here's something a bunch of us collaborated on a while back that I found helpful when inspecting a used boat I was considering.

Good luck.

To me, this forum is about love of inboard boats. It is about the sharing of information and, on a good day, some humor. It is not about post count, brand of boat, or any other superfluous labels that lend themselves to a false sense of superiority. Please, respect one another, try to pass on accurate information, and keep your eye on the ball.
