What kind of grease?

I have to grease my rudder box, and cable about every 7 to 10 hours, to have great steering. Is this normal? I'm using Amsoil full synthetic. What kind of grease is everyone using?

Marine grease. 7-10 hours sounds like way too much to me. I do it once a season and don't really feel much of a difference when I do it.

You may want to pull the rudder and clean out any old grease, it helped mine a little.

I have tight steering on my Maristar and I replaced the cable but it made no difference. Pulled the rudder out and got every thing nice and clean then regreased it. Helped a little bit but not as much as I would like. I can drop the rudder down about 1/4" and and it is easier to turn....think I have a bent rudder shaft or the box is just worn out. Winter project.

Switched to a '06 rudder over the winter, had the same problem with the old rudder. Right after I grease it it steers like a champ, wouldn't trade it for anything.
