2006 X-Star Fuel Gauge

Has anyone had any problem with their fuel gauge being 1/2 tank off, When mine is completely full , it is showing only half full on the gauge, Do they still have floats in the tank or is it some kind of a sensor now ? just trying to get an ideal before I take it to the dealer

on the top of the tank there are two adjustment screws for calibrating the gauge when the tank is full and empty. i adjusted mine.. its still out on the empty side by about 1/3 tank. depends on the attitude of the boat as well.
Best way to tell how much gas is in the tank - pull out the center rear seat cushion and black tub, and visually look at the tank.

My new X star guage is way off also. When it is half full it reads empty at rest and less than 1/4 tank when running. I looked at the tank sending unit and it potted, I assume this is to cover the adjustment or calibration screws.

I will talk to the dealer about this and see what he can do, until then I assume I burn an avergae of 6 gallons per hour and will go by the hour meter.

I think the Mastercraft engineers err on the high side when calibrating the tank to make sure there is adequate fuel to cool the fuel pump.

My 2008 X-star's fuel gauge has the exact same reading error. It is definitely on purpose and I suspect it is a way to prevent folks from running the fuel level below 1/4 tank and damaging the pump. Time for a nw pump design IMHO.

I talked to the dealer today and he said it could be the sending unit on top of the tank
