Trailer VIN

Is the VIN located anywhere other than the tongue on MC trailers? I'm trying to get the registration straightened out with my old one before I start tearing it apart for restoration.

Do they give you a title in that great state of yours? It should be on there if they do.....

Mine is barely noticable on the silver tag on the tongue. In many states you don't need a title for the trailer.

No titles, but it looks like when I bought it, the dealer never transferred the trailer registrtin to me. I still have the old plate for it. I should have realized this sooner, but 99.9% of my thought process goes into the boat, not the trailer, especially since I just got a new one. The problem is that once the old tag expires, I have no tag and no way to re-register. I'm working with Miami Ski Nautiques on it which is where I bought the boat back in November. I also can't sell the trailer if I decide to because you have to give a bill of sale with the VIN and have the registration for it. Anyway, big mess. If I had the VIN I could straighten it out, but my tag on the tongue is competely blank, not a trace of any writing or anything on it.

Is it a MC trailer? If so when the boat was sold to the original dealer the HIN of the boat and the VIN of the trailer may be linked together. MC may be able to do the research for you. Some trailer manufactures like Dorsey weld a number on the frame behind the right fender.

I think the VINs on the older boat trailers are on one of the frame members under the fender just in front of the wheels (left I think). Basically it's totally hidden. I didn't learn this till I registered my trailer as homemade and haven't bothered to look, but that's what I recall reading on this board somewhere. You might want to get under the trailer and look around and see if you find it.

When I bought my 1995 PS190, I was able to get a warranty card faxed to me from MC. It had the boat VIN, the engine serial, and the trailer VIN.
