Flat tires

I have been out of town for a few days and when i got home my 1999 205 was sitting on the rims. I aired up the tires and both valve stems were leaking. One appeares to be cut, the other one is not that bad. What is the possibility of both valve stems failing at the same time? Another boat and new truck were sitting by my mastercraft and were ok. Just trying to figure out if i need to keep an eye out or if they just failed.

The failure of both near or about the same time makes sense, probably from age unless they were new or relatively new. When were they changed last. Most any tire shop replaces the valve stem anytime a new tire is put on a rim for obvious reasons. If those are the original tires on a '99 as in your profile it's probable they failed due to age and exposure. One way to eliminate the problem is install the bolt in kind that never need replacing in most cases, sold at most any auto parts store or tire shop. Found these on the Jegs site!

Original, but little or no sign of dry rot.

failure w/in a few days seems unlikely to be but not impossible... if nothing else was "tampered" with i wouldn't alert the neighborhood watch group just yet... valve stems are cheap and not hard to replace your self if you have an air compressor... local tire shop should be able to hook you up w/ some new ones... when you get them replaced make sure they put short ones in for you... the longer ones will be more likely to get hit knocked around and cause a premature failure

The bolt in valve stems in the van have been in the wheels for nearly 20 years and in the boat trailer wheels for 19 years and never been replaced. I may lose 2 lb. of air a year if that much.

No we live in a good section of nashville. There is some new construction about 1/2 mile away that has new grafitti on it. If i find out they were cut, i will assume it was some kids. The boat was covered nothing taken, fishing boat parked next to it and it fine.
