I wouldn't buy a boat with the 310 unless it was a smoking deal. Before buying my 05 197 with MCX and'slot last year I considered buying a new 07 197 without the slot. I'm glad I didn't. So I certainly wouldn't have been happy with the 310. But it is all relative. The 310 will probably do the job, but not as well. If the deal is great, get it. But then again the 230 is a real big boat....You might want to think hard about this.

What the stock prop? That could make all the difference. With the right prop, I think you'd be hard pressed to "need" more engine. Would it be nice to have it? of course, not sure it would keep me away from the boat.

Nope it's not enough. for me If the price isn't a steal I would keep looking. You can upgrade a lot of stuff but HP isn't one of em (not unless you have UMP's money). I have the MCX in my X-30 and find myself wishing for more at times.

Is fuel economy really that important? I would argue that the difference to the wallet will be a function of the use, the driver and many other variables, not which powerplant is in it.

Throw 7 people, some ballast, and all the gear in and ride it in the conditions you willl use it and let us know what you think.

I am serious man, if 310 HP cant meet your needs for skiing, you really need to go on a diet or find another sport.

The 230 is a big boat. We have an X1 with the 310 and that thing when you drop the hammer....well it goes...and goes fast. The X1 is also 2 feet shorter then the 230 and probably weighs about 2000 lbs more then the X1. If the deal is right then I would say go for it however seriously think about what types of things you will be doing with the boat (wakeboarding with full ballast and 10 people) it will take a while to plane out. Best of Luck to you, hope this helped.

FYI.... The X1 is 3200 lbs and the 230 is 3900 lbs.
