anybody know where i can find one of these...
this came out of a little corded 12V lamp in one of my rear storage compartments. the lamp appears to be burned out. i can't seem to find it. it says 12V5W on it.

Most any auto parts carry them, they are used most frequently in the earlier factory 3rd brake lights on cars and trucks.

You can test the bulb pretty easily. Just put one end of the bulb on a battery terminal and then run a wire from the other battery terminal to the other end of the bulb. If its good it will light up.

Agreed. I have also seen them in the Dome light on some cars back in the '90's.

that is a festoon bulb...i've replaced mine with led's. my housings were perko's and the led's fit fine...you just have to measure them up. 10mm x 31mm sounds right to me but measure yours up if you go led
http://www.autolumination.com/festoon.htm i might still have my old bulbs around if you want them |

If you don't have luck at a auto parts or hardware store, try a camper dealer. That bulb looks just like the one in the refridgerator in my RV.
