1:1 velvet drive won't go into gear unless....
I posted about this a while back but can't seem to find the thread. Anyways, I never got around to fixing it but want to get it up and running for this summer. I was hoping you guys could give some ideas as to the problem and/or solution. Here are the details:
Indmar 351 - 1:1 Velvet Drive -Goes into reverse with no problem at all -Only goes into drive around 2,000rpm -After I have been driving for a while, then put it in neutral, then go back to drive it works perfect, but once I let it sit for a while the problem occurs again. -I checked the tranny fluid and levels are good. Color of the fluid looks good too. Any ideas what may be causing this? Thanks! |

The next thing I would be looking at would be the cable/linkage adjustment. Try disconnecting the shift cable from the linkage arm on the transmission. Then I would try shifting into forward gear, out in open water of course, to see if it engages any sooner. If it does then some adjustment is necessary. If it doesn't then we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
