Ballast

What's the story on the X-9 ballast? I posted this question elsewhere too but figured I would post it in both places. How much weight does it add?

It obviously depends on how full it is, but if you want, you could fill it from a 30 gallon (clean) garbage can, filling that with a 5 gal bucket. Once you know how many gallons it takes to fill it, just multiply the # of gallons by 8.33 to get the approximate weight.

ex. (50 gal)(8.33 lb/gal)=416.5 lb

Thanks Jim,
I guess I should have been a little more clear on what I was asking. You answered exactly what I asked, but I didn't ask the right question. The question is - how many gallons will the X-9 ballast system hold? I am looking at adding the X-9 Ballast system to my 209 and I am trying to get an idea about how much that is going to change the wake.
Thanks!
Brandon

And I bet you thought you would never use any of the algebra from high school. You can derive the weight from the volume, too. 1 cubic foot of water is around 62.4 pounds, so if you figure out how much volume it takes up, you can then find out the weight.

I have seen conflicting weights and volumes for sacs, so it's only going to be approximate, whatever you look at or buy.

The stock front sack (12" diameter by 80") calculates to 326 lbs but probably puffs out to ~420 lbs. I replaced mine with a custom rectangular sack at 15" x 12" x 80" for a calculated value of 519 lbs.

The stock sack under the rear seat is advertised at 375 lbs but calculates out at more like 282 lbs (more if you let it expand and bump up the rear seat).
