What prop do you recommend for a X7 LY6

Advice would be appreciated for the recommended prop for a X7 LY6 with powerslot. Our predominant use is barefooting so top speed is important.
I have been advised the boat ships with a 13 x 12 but I should replace this with a 13.5 x 15.5

Also why does the LY6 only come with the powerslot? What does this actually do?

Eric @ OJ said they made the 14.75 x 15.5 for the LY6. That's what my 08 X2 came with if that helps.

I have had my 08 197 since March. It is the LY6 and I tested 4 props on it. My favorites were the Acme 13.5x15 3 blade and the 13.25x15 3 blade. I ended up with the 13.5x15.5 because I really liked the top end and the low rpms at 36mph. The 13.25x15 will hit the rev limiter but the 13.5x15.5 will come in about 150-200 rpms under the rev limiter. My boat ran 49.5 with just me in it the other day. I have also been behind the boat barefooting at 46mph and we were not even full throttle. I hope you love your boat as much as I do. I think the LY6 197 is a sweet combination. By the way my boat came with the 13x12 and it was a rocket out of the hole, but it was running just over 4200 rpms at 36. Best of luck.

I also took delivery of a new X7 c/w LY6 engine in Jan 2008 and have chalked up nearly 90 hours. We also have experimented with props wishing to get off the beach quicker .The boat came standard with the OJ 13.5 x 15.
We tried the 12 x13 but it was totally unsatisfactory. Bit like flattening a V8 Ute on a "skidpan" ! Prop just slipped ,engine screamed and top speed reduced from 47.5mph to max.41.5mph. I am told that this prop was designed for the MCX engine.
We are still looking for the best alternative .
However understand OJ have just released a new prop which could be the answer.
Good Luck with the new boat - makes skiing a pleasure !

I have now had two 197s with the LY6, 2007 and 2008. Both boats came stock with the OJ 13x12 3 blade. The 2007 I had topped out at 44.5 mph via gps with the stock prop. I may have damaged the stock prop on my maiden voyage as there seemed to be some vibration. I then installed the acme 1281 which is a 13.25X15 with .090 cup and my top speed went up to 48 mph with just me in the boat and no noticeable difference in hole shot.

With the stock OJ prop my 2008 topped at about 46 mph per gps. I also installed an ACME 1281 and my top speed went up to about 47 mph per gps. All of the above mentioned props had me in an RPM range that I was comfortable with and I did not hit the rev limiter.

From my experience the 1281 is the best prop that I have tested so far, of course it is a sampling of only two different props. I would be interested to test the new OJ prop and the ACME 13.5 x 15.5.
