New Problem ( Oil pressure Gauge )

I recently purchased a new oil sending unit from SkiDIM.
I replaced my old one last year with an automotive sending unit.
(mistake) The auto motive ones havea different ohm rating.
With the auto sending unit, my gauge would peg all the way to the right.
After installing my new one it shows me having oil pressure of about 70 lbs.
Tonight I was working on the boat and I turned the key on, and the oil gauge went to 70 lbs, just like when running. Now I am wondering if I am getting a good oil pressure reading.

Can anyone tell me how and what to check.?
Can anyone tell me what there gauge does when the key is turned on?

Help !!!!!!
